The Artist

Megan Kumpula is a contemporary abstract artist living in Spruce Grove, Alberta. She graduated from MacEwan University in Theatre Production in 2006. There she learned creative skills to paint, build, and design productions. After graduating Megan worked in the Art Department in the film industry for 8 years, and traveled all over, from Alberta prairies to the lengths of Brussels, Belgium. In 2015 Megan had a sold out group art exhibition in the Garage Photographic Studio on 124th in Edmonton where she displayed a series of her abstract artwork. Currently she works at the Edmonton Opera as the Head Scenic Artist & Head of the Props Department. At the Opera she leads the paint team to create theatre sets using various paint techniques. These elaborate sets are experienced at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium several times a year. Recently, on May 5th, 2018 Megan also competed in the Edmonton Art Battle and took home 1st place. Megan continues to create custom artwork for businesses and individuals using their desired colors and making something one of a kind which they can showcase to others.
